So! Here goes....

As my first foray into the world of blogging, I am somewhat unsure of what to share with the world, what to keep private and whether anyone will actually be interested in what I have to say!  But as the title says...here goes....I have to start somewhere so today is as good a day as any.

I have decided to start blogging primarily as a way to keep a journal for myself and my family to look back on in years to come and to serve as a reminder of family life throughout the years.  I also hope that by sharing my experiences of being an expectant mummy-to-be (2 weeks + 3 days and counting!) and being married into the British military may provide some interesting and potentially humourous / entertaining reading for anyone who stumbles upon this.

There are so many cliches surrounding the life of an 'Army Officers' Wife', especially a British one (picture the 80's marvel of pearl necklaces, high-collared-shirts, 'Puffa' jackets and the obligatory Labrador / cuordroy-clad toddler at one's feet),  and I hope to delve into this mysterious world to show the reality behind the facade of coffee mornings and choirs.

I work from home as an artist, specialising mainly in commissions of pet portraits and more recently 'human' ones too!  Naturally, my working hours fluctuate depending on how many commissions I have at any one time, so I can go from working pretty much full-time to having a few of weeks at a time with no work.  But it is something I adore doing and hopefully something I can continue to pursue and build on once the baby is born.

Finally, the baby!  So we are expecting our first child, somewhere in the next 2 to 3 weeks.  At present it is just myself, my husband and our ginger Labrador, Rufus.  Rufus has been somewhat coveted and treated as our first child (although I'd like to insist that his manners and training have not suffered as a result....much!), so he at least is in for a rather large shock once he is demoted from his current post of 'darling baby' to just...dog.  We, however, are ridiculously excited and I hope to share as much of my remaining pregnancy and all the weeks, months and years to come as I feel appropriate / of interest along the way.

So that's me, us and my hopes for this blog covered. I shall start blogging in the true sense as soon as I have any blog-worthy tidbits!
